Investing Process: Pick Investments

Picking Actual Investment Instruments – Once the accounts are set up, and asset allocation determined, then the decisions of where you will actually put your dollars begins. You are now ready to decide the financial quality of the investment(s) and if the investment(s) meets your values as determined by your study of the SRI Grid and what is really important to you.
Individual Issues – You can buy stock in corporations that meet you values by Screening in-, Screening –out, or buying those issues that are trying to do what is right in your Value arena. Your can also buy individual bonds in corporations that you think and that screen for doing sustainable actions. The process for making these decisions can be difficult and therefore using mutual funds may be the best process to use.
Mutual Funds/ETF – These instruments both use baskets of individual issues to meet certain financial quality and sustainability.
Mutual Funds - There are many SRI Mutual Funds. Some are better than others, but learning about them is part of the whole process. We have listed a group of Mutual Fund Families for you to investigate. There are certainly others you may want to use. You need to begin the search. .
ETF - Exchange Traded Funds – There are also a basket of individual issues but they are usually based on an index. There are hundred and hundred of indexes that meet all kind of broad and/or specific areas of investing. i.e. Global Wind; Water Resources etc. We will be working on where to find a list of ETF that fit Socially Responsible Investing
